The church was founded in the year 1664. Renovated in 1721 and was painted from Ioannina brothers Nicholas and Theodore in 1730. From the year 1986 began the restoration of the Temple and cleaning of icons with actions of church committee and costs from donations.

In this temple the visitor can admire the imposing spire of the (1855), a symbol of Kozani, the extraordinary and unprecedented technical carved wooden screen and other woodwork (bishop's throne, pulpit, the altar canopy). Excellence is also hagiographic style frescoes of the church. And remarkable example is the gold embroidery art brocade Lamentation, a work of the first public teacher of Kozani George Kontaris. There are also silver candlesticks carved with scenes and two large bronze candelabra, height 2.05 m each, baroque, with lots of plays and supported by three lions.
